ABOUT MAISON D’HÉRELLE
Since its opening in 1990, Maison d’Hérelle has provided an adaptive and inclusive living environment for people living with HIV/AIDS. Our approach is centred on listening and empathy, recognizing the inherent worth of each individual, regardless of origin, lifestyle, or values.
We are known for our end-of-life care and our use of complementary approaches within a holistic health framework. With the advent of antiretroviral drugs in 1996, we expanded our services to include community aftercare and developed an expertise in dealing with HIV-related cognitive disorders.
Over the years, we have created and continue to create environments where hope can be rebuilt.
Our networked living environments enable us to provide residents and tenants with personalized housing solutions that can be adapted to their evolving needs.
We are committed to the principle of Greater Involvement of People Living with or Affected by HIV/AIDS (GIPA).
Mission
To provide housing and adapted care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS, within a holistic health perspective, and paired with public and community health and social service networks.

Philosophy
Decision-making committees representing residents, tenants, volunteers, and staff ensure that there is a genuine exchange of views on common interests in the decision-making process. This approach allows us to adapt quickly to emerging needs.
We want to help people make new investments in themselves. Our goal is to provide enough security and support to ensure that every crisis is an opportunity for growth.
Changing one’s life while remaining true to oneself, reinventing oneself without losing one’s identity is possible, and at Maison d’Hérelle, we celebrate each individual on their journey.
